In my Vanity

I used to love the magazine sections where people emptied their makeup bags for people to see. Since products are expensive to test & rarely live up to expectations I think girls sharing what works for them is always of benefit to others.

As I get older I'm more interested in quality products that protect & hydrate my skin/don't make it look like I am wearing makeup. I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to beauty routine. Don't get me wrong- for nights out it's always fun to try different, creative things, but for my everyday routine the products below are my go-tos.

  1. La Vanila The Healthy Deoderant  | in Vanilla Grapefruit | After reading about the health effects of antiperspirant I decided to leave my much loved dove behind. I tried many options and this one is by far the best and smells so, so good.

  2. L'Occitane 'Aromachologie' Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner A little on the pricey side, but it smells amazing (lavender?) and leaves my hair clean without drying & it doesn't leave behind a waxy residue (something I find most conditioners that detangle long hair do)

  3.  Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Really great product for the price. I use it when my hair feels too clean or is a little frizzy. It also smells great - Noticing in making this list that scent is a huge factor in what I purchase (just behind ingredients/health factor)

  4. Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Nourishing Sleeping Facial My newest and absolute Favourite. As I creep closer to the thirty year age mark, taking care of my skin has become a beauty priority. Eating right, sleeping, drinking water and moisturizing are really important. My skin is break-out prone and I'm always super hesitant to try new things, but the transition to this product was seamless. It's the only rich moisturizer I've been able to use. I apply it after washing my face in the morning (even thought it's marketed as an overnight product). Worth the price.

  5.  Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner A good liquid eyeliner for the price. Easy to apply. I'm a fan of the cat eye on the days I decide I want to wear a little makeup.

  6. Philosophy purity made simple one-step facial cleanser This has been my favourite cleanser for years and I have lots of other friends who can attest to it's gentle and effective cleansing power ..... surprise! it also smells great.
  7. Smith's Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm Love the simplicity of this balm when I have it's cold and dry out.

  8. Tarte Cheek Stain I've stopped wearing powder on a regular basis as I feel it dries out my skin. I love gel blush because it gives a great, natural glow and keeps skin dewy and fresh (without sparkles). I save powder blush (Nars-Torrid) for nights when I want to wear a little bit more makeup and don't mind the sheen.

  9.  VASELINE Lip Therapy  A good old stand-by. I carry it in my purse always. It's a good quick fix for chapped lips or dry cuticles etc.

What are your go-to products/Anything I should be adding to my Christmas list to try?
